Just for Tonight is a song about coping. Life is tough sometimes, and sometimes there’s nothing we can do about that. In those times, sometimes it’s better to accept things as they are than keep fighting to change them. Because life goes on, and the sun rises. Every new day is a chance to make things better. But on the nights when we can’t fight it anymore, we can gather together with the people we love, and we can pretend that things are fine until the day they finally are. Just for tonight.

The future once looked so bright
Now it gets dimmer every day
My eyes once burst with color
Now all I see is gray

I don’t hold the world on my shoulders,
But I still feel the weight.
I think we’re doomed
And it only gets worse with age.

Can we pretend just for tonight
That everything will be alright
Even if it’s just a lie
Even if it’s just a lie

Let’s play pretend just for tonight
Tell me everything is fine
Even if you have to lie
We will dance in the ash tonight

I’ve seen things I can’t believe,
And they weigh down on me.
Still I walk these crumbling streets
Pounding pavement with weary feet.

I just want something to call my own,
A place to clear my head.
Still it seems so far away
From the thorny paths I tread.
